Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata has direct air services from/to Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai, Patna, Varanasi, and Lucknow with connectivity to all major cities in the country. Most of the domestic airlines have direct flights to and from Kolkata to other important cities of India. There are international flights connecting Kolkata to most of the countries in Southeast Asia. Air India Express, Jetlite, Spicejet, Indigo, Go Air operate regular flights to and from Kolkata. Getting to the IIEST, Shibpur from the airport (which may take around 1 hour) at present costs about Rs. 600/- in a pre-paid taxi available from the airport. App Cabs service is also available from the airport to IIEST, Shibpur.

Physically, it is adjacent to the A. J. C. Bose Indian Botanic Garden and only 1 km from Shalimar Railway Station. Howrah, Sealdah and Kolkata railway Stations are 6, 12 and 15 km away from the institute, respectively. The Howrah Junction, more popularly known as the Howrah Railway Station, is the oldest and largest railway complex in India, serving the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata. One can reach the IIEST Shibpur within 20 minutes from Howrah Station, 40 minutes from Sealdah Station, and 1 hour from Kolkata Railway Station by car/ taxi/ other App Cabs.
